Radim Pařík is co-author of Chris Voss's new book on empathic management of people
PRAGUE, December 1 - President of the Association of Negotiators Radim Parík, an international professional negotiator, lecturer and top manager, has co-authored a book called Empathetic Leadership with negotiation legend and former FBI chief international negotiator with kidnappers Chris Voss. This confirmed the exceptional position of the Czech and Slovak Republics among negotiators from all over the world. The book will be published in the spring of 2024 by SuccessBooks®.
Negotiation is the ultimate form of communication and is thus closely intertwined with people management. Empathic leadership of people is a progressive direction based on the knowledge of these two disciplines and often also focuses on working with psychologically complex personalities. The book is thus a joint scholarly publication of Voss and other leaders in the field of communication and negotiation. In the book, Radim addresses the topic of negotiation and tactical empathy, which are an inseparable part of modern leadership.
Radim Parík is the only personal pupil of Chris Voss in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, and the only one from the European Union among the authors of the new book. “I am thrilled that Chris Voss has chosen me as co-author of the book. At the same time, I feel a huge responsibility,” says Radim Parik. “This fact will help the whole field of negotiation in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, because suddenly the stars of world negotiation like Chris Voss or Joe Navarro, George Kohlrieser or Mathias Schranner know that there is a Czech Republic and that we can negotiate excellently in it. So it's not about me, it's about all the people who are negotiating here in the middle of Europe.”
Empathetic Leadership is set to become a bestseller like Chris Voss's Never Split the Difference: Negotiating As If Your Life Depended On It. It became a global sensation in 2016 and is still considered essential literature for those interested in negotiations. Christopher “Chris” Voss started out as a police officer but soon worked his way up to the position of the FBI's chief international negotiator for negotiating with kidnappers. He has assisted in a number of kidnapping cases around the world, such as on the hot soil of Gaza, Iraq, the Philippines, Colombia or Haiti. He retired from the civil service in 2007 and set up his own consultancy group, The Black Swan Group. He passes on his experience, either in the form of public education or lectures at selected American universities.
Radim Parík was vice-chairman of the board of the world's second-largest retailer and gradually became a top business negotiator. He has studied at prestigious world institutions, is a graduate of the Harvard Negotiation Master Class and holds the Certified Global Negotiator certification from the University of St. Gallen. He has undergone negotiation training under the guidance of former FBI agents and has mastered negotiation techniques based on Mossad principles. Radim Parik conducted expert research on the influence of emotions on individual negotiation tactics with more than 1000 respondents from the ranks of top managers, politicians and professional negotiators, based on real negotiation cases. He is a certified Chief Negotiation Officer from the Schranner Negotiation Institute and the only student of both the biggest personalities in the field Chris Voss and Joe Navarro in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. He is also currently president of the Association of Negotiators — an international organization that brings together professional negotiators in five countries on four continents of the world.
